    WMA codec?

The WMA codec for dMC what does it actually install? I already have have WMP11 and Windows Media Encoder installed (XP SP2). Does it install the MS WMA encoder or a 3rd party WMA encoder?

Ok, so why is an extra install needed if wma decoding/encoding is already installed? Is this just local to dMC or a system wide codec update?

Because for XP microsoft have 2 system wma codecs, one for their programs and their programs only, the other set for every other program which wants to create wma.

          A related question if I may -

I would like to use WMA standard 9.1 codec with dbPoweramp instead of 9.2 (conducted listening tests and found 9.1 to be superior at lower encode levels - preserves dynamic range better). Could you instruct as to how to do this?

          Thanks

            Re: WMA codec?

If you have ever installed 9.2 it is not possible to install 9.1 without doing a system restore to the point before you installed 9.2
