Install r13.1 over r13

I am using r13 reference registered.
Before install r13.1 I wanted to check the procedure.

I need to download the registered version of r13.1 dMC.
I remember when the beta version was available during the installation you should not remove the existing version.
Is this still the case or should the existing version be removed during the installation of r13.1 dMC.

Are the Codecs installed from r13 still available or do they also need to be reinstalled?

Nothing with codecs needs to be done (although is a good time to check for updates with those), you can install over the top or uninstall R13, makes no difference.
