Dear DB Poweramp, I tried installing a registered copy of R13.1 that I downlaoded tonight and trying to run the installer .exe fails. I see the typical "dMC-R13.1-Ref-Registered.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." window. Any assistance you might provide would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you have only part of the install file, clear your internet cache and re-download. -
Re: Trying to run R13.1 registered installer crashes under XP
It appears that the only way to run the .exe is to let it download to IE's temporary internet folder. What I did originally was to save the .exe locally and then run it. Is there any way you can provide me with a .exe that I can use later should I need to reconstruct my computer's hard drive?
Thanks.Last edited by dschulte; October 04, 2008, 12:21 AM.Comment

The .exe is just a file off the internet, so there should be no difference between saving it to disc, or running from temp folder (you can copy the file from the temp folder if it works).Comment

Re: Trying to run R13.1 registered installer crashes under XP
I believe I figured out the cause. It has to do with the name of the folder that I saved the .exe to. I tried running the .exe from root folder of drive C and it worked. I then started moving the .exe around to the child folders where I had attempted to save it originally, and when I placed it in a folder named "DBPower Amp Music Converter", the .exe failed with the message noted earlier in this thread. I renamed this folder to just "DBPowerAmp" and the .exe worked. Maybe there is an issue with your installer related to the length or name of the folder from which it is run? I didn't play around enough to figure out the exact length. At least I got it to run. Thanks again for your help.

No, this is an issue at a low level (Windows running the program), the program is not even starting. Really the folder should not (and does not matter - I can run it fine from long paths). Try other installers in the same folder, do they work?Comment
