Tags not copied when converting mp4 to mp3

Sorry this is such a basic question but i have spent a long time searching in help and the forum and can't find the answer.

When I convert mp4 files with tags to mp3 files using the music converter (or the batch converter), none of the tags are copied over. How can I remedy this? Is there something special I have to in order for the Music Converter to copy tags? (I tried going into DSP and doing something with ID tags, but it didn't work and I would have thought that copying the standard tags such as Artist, Album, Comment, etc. would be the default.)

    Thanks a lot, Ed

Install the utility codec 'audio info' and convert a m4a file to the audio info codec, post the results here please. (you can find this codec in codec central, link on the tool bar).

Re: Tags not copied when converting mp4 to mp3

Lo and Behold, I see the tags in the mp3 file when I do Audio Info on the mp3 version. Where I don't see them is Tag & Rename 3.4.6, which has always been completely reliable before. Once I saw them in the Audio Info output, I tried in Windows Explorer and imported the mp3 files into iTunes. The tags were visible in both. So this seems to be a Tag & Rename issue, not a Music Converter issue. If you happen to know why this is happening, I'd love to know, but, if you don't, that's fine. I'll take it up with Tag & Rename.

Thanks a lot for your help,
            Ed

Try switching to id3v2 (in dBpoweramp Configuration >> Codecs >> Advanced Settings).
