I would have to recreate a test using similar artists etc to yours to see if I can get the error on my machine, it will not be too easy to reproduce that.

Of course, not an easy one to fault-find.

For now I've done the offending folders one-by-one using "All files in batch are same album" and for new rips this is what I'll continue to do.

If I find anything in future that may explain this, I'll post back! Thanks for your help.

        Well,

I'm running the replaygain utility on my files right now, checked both track & album replaygain, use Album ID Tag and NONE of my files are getting the album replaygain tag. They all get the track replaygain.
Using DBPowerAmp 13.1 and only .flac files.

Could be this issue, or one where dbpoweramp is denied to write to the temporary folder (where it stores the album gains).

Aha! Could well be. I'm using Kaspersky, and the only dBpoweramp app I'd placed in Kasp's trusted zone was (I think, this is from memory) cdgrab.exe

Annoyingly I can't check what settings I had as my system drive burnt out last week (as in really - plastic's started to melt on the drive!) so now i'm on a new drive, fresh install of Windows, dBpoweramp and Kaspersky (which is now a newer version too)

The new version of Kasp seems a lot more forgiving, out of the box, of letting apps run without needing setting up so I'll try again and report back.

If it is this, Spoon, which of dB's .exe files would I need to tell Kasp about?

How do I check what's the cause of the problem? (I'm using Windows Vista SP1 with UAC enabled)

If converting lots of files if you type start >> run >> %tmp%

Then start the replay gain you should see a new folder created with the replay gain details within the folder.

                  Re: Batch Convertor ReplayGain problem

Hi Spoon - just wondered if you'd had time to look at the secondary problem I had earlier in this thread, namely using dB to do alter Apple Lossless files (whether it be editing tags, running RG etc) strips my PERFORMERSORTORDER and ALBUMSORTORDER tags from the files?

                  Thanks!

Not yet, it is on the todo list when the m4a codec is next updated.
