    The weirdest problem

I am having the weirdest problem with songs I download and I hope someone can help me with this. First of all I have read the faqs around this site, that said I still don't know what to do.

My problem is this. I am on http://remix.overclocked.org (best VG remix site known to man) and I right click on a song and select "save target as" to download it. This is the weird part. I had Winamp on my computer at one point but then I downloaded dbpowerAMP and decided I liked it better so I completely uninstall Winamp yet on the "save as" screen that comes up right before the download begins the "save as type" section has only two choices, "Wimamp Media File and All Files" ,so I select either one and then the download starts. For the first second on the actual download screen the file name of the song reads something like this "??????.mp3", but a split second later it switches to "??????.mpeg" and as you know dbpowerAMP has no support for mpeg files or conversion of mpeg's to MP3's so like any other person I check the codecs section for help. There is nothing there to help me convert these files to MP3's so here are my questions.

Is there ANYTHING that can help me convert these files?
Is downloading these files as mpeg a computer error?
And isn't mpeg actually a type of movie file?

Any help would be enormously appreciated. Thank you for reading my rant.

If you go into explorer options and switch the option on 'Show extensions of known file types' then just rename them to .mp3
