VBR track timelength problem with lame

Typically I had been encoding files CBR but recently I tried doing some VBR rips. I've noticed that the track time from a VBR rip is intermittently screwey. I can rip an entire disk and maybe half the tracks have bad times when played back in various players (Media player, Winamp, etc.) There's nothing wrong with the mp3, in that all the music is there, just that a 3 minute song might be displayed as a 100 minutes in Winamp. Needless to say, the song only plays for 3 minutes! Anyone else run into this?

Check that those files have not been given an ID3v2 tag.

Interesting that you say that. I have it set to create V1 and V2 tags. Some sort of bug? I noticed a bunch of threads regarding v2 tags, guess I should have read through them! ;-)
