    FLAC to WMA batch encoding

    Howdy!

I just need a no-hassle GUI tool that'll convert my extensive FLAC music collection to WMA. I need batch encoding capability. What I want to do is to simply drag and drop, and get the results, no questions asked, no fuss of any kind. I have no time to fiddle with command-line stuff and all that "advanced" shite. All I'd be willing to do is to maybe fiddle with the settings once in a while, perhaps do some normalizin', tags editing, minor stuff.

Will dMC help? Is dMC the providential tool for such a task?

Note that I also need the tool in question to not install its own .wma codecs, as I need it to use the codecs already installed on my machine (just hate redundancy and the ensuing mess).

(Running Vista Ultimate 64 on a Woodcrest platform.)

Only Microsoft can use the Windows internal WMA codecs, no other program can, everything else much install a 2nd subset of WMA.

dBpoweramp can do as you require, use the 'Batch Converter' and select the whole folder in one click.

Thank you. Well, that's a bummer. Hate multiple codecs for the same thing. :vmad: I'd have to ask you now:

      (a) how do your WMA codecs stack up againts Microsoft's? Are they of comparable quality? Can they do everything Microsoft's own codecs do? ...like WMA pro?

      (b) will installing your codecs screw up my existing WMA codecs? Will WMP use your codec instead of Microsoft's?

      (c) I already have a FLAC codec installed. why doesn't dMC see that? Or is that this one is also shielded from other programs?

      Cheers,

      A

Our WMA codec is a Microsoft one, just the ones with the system are different WMA codecs.

Each program which implements flac does it in its own way, there are no system codecs for flac.

dBpoweramp will not alter any other programs codecs.
