One upon a time, dMC was working fine on my Vista system. Then, I rebuilt my system on a new motherboard, and dMC is no longer working.
Symptoms:
1. Conversion programs run OK, but if I initiate a conversion, the conversion rate drops to 0.0 and the conversion never finishes. Happens with all codecs and test-conversion and is independent of how I start the conversion (right-click, converter, batch, ...). Its also independent of whether I run it as administrator or not. I cant cancel the conversion without resorting to task-manager, and memory consumption of CoreConverter.exe is about 350MB.
2. If I enable popups, just mousing over a music file causes multiple GetPopupInfo instances to start, each one taking about 350MB. If these processes aren't killed promptly the system will come to its knees and need to be restarted.
Notes:
1. System was rebuilt on same hard-drive, after reformatting it, using same Vista disk.
2. System and all other apps working fine.
3. I've tried re-installing and I've tried dBpower-Reset'ing before installing, and I've tried rebooting - doesn't help. Nor does it work in Safe Mode.
Final Thoughts:
There must be something about this system that is tripping up dBpoweramp, but what? The configuration is mostly the same as last Vista system (when dBpoweramp was working nicely) except for motherboard and other differences in application installation order, some different versions, and drivers.
Any help will be greatly appreciated,
Rob.
