Question re: AAC (Apple Lossless) conversion accuracy

    Hi there....

New forum member and first posting, so please go gently !!!

I have a question which initially sounds stupid but I have reason for asking!

I have 600 CD's ripped in Apple Lossless. I'm now totally disillusioned with Itunes and its constant quest to sell me stuff. Anyway, I' moving to Vista's Media Center and now want my music in WMP Lossless.

The question is how accurate will the conversion be? It's a stupid question because yes I know moving from one lossless format to another should be 100% accurate. The reason I still ask is because I know that Apple have not released details of their encoding, so I'm guessing the AAC codecs in dBpoweramp have been reverse engineered? So will the resulting WMP Lossless file be without problems, skips / pops / clicks or any other problems that might be an issue ? I thought it best I check this before I start the conversion on 250GB of data !!!!

    Thanks in advance guys

Decoding ALAC is fine, it's the encoder that was hard to do. You should be fine.

Thats great - Itunes has become a monster (on Windows at least), and can't wait to ditch it for good.

      Thanks for the speedy reply.
