ARRRGH!!!!!!!!! - WMA in XP is 9.2

well - ive installed XP on a partition simply for the purpose of being able to encode to WMA lower than 9.2 - I was told to do this..... (cos my Sony Ericsson mobile wont play WMA newer than 9.1)

Ive installed XP and dBpoweramp then installed the codec packages...
now when i choose WMA 9 it has 9.2 or 10 like before in VISTA...???

    why is this?????

Is there ANYWAY at all possible to encode into WMA 9.0 in Vista OR XP?

    1. Iam at my wits end as to WHY Sony Ericsson have done this?
    2. I cant believe that to encode in a certain format requires the installation of another Operating System???

    can ANYONE help?

    thanks

ALSO: the instant email notification thingy doesnt work on this forum

What version of WMP do you have installed? Which WMA codec did you install into dMC?

well the wierdest thing has happened???

its WMP9 that comes with XP and WMA codec 9pro from dB

BUT upon testing on 9.2 in XP (which I done in Vista and the file wouldnt play on my w880i - whether it was 9.2 or 10) it worked anyway on my fone?.... i though HOLD ON that codec wouldnt work in Vista... SO I went back into Vista and encoded a file into WMA using 9.2 as before and IT WORKED?????????

I wonder if its certain tracks?? i tried a few times in Vista the 9.2 and 10 versions would not work on my mobile but since installing XP on another partition - IT DOES???

      anyone understand that?
