Regarding dBpoweramp Reference, is it accurate to assume that the Digital Signal Processing Pack never modifies the source file? In my case, if it matters, the format is FLAC.

As long as you do not use the effect 'Delete Source File' then yes it will not modify the source file (** if converting to a propper audio format, not if using a utility codec such as [id tag update])
