    Nero AAC question.

    Hi there,

i made a lot of searches here on forums and through the web with my friend Google, but i cannot make my mind up (too much information make confusion sometimes).

I got a HUGE collection of CD (almost 2000) in my collection, 90% classical ones.

So, I would like to know how NERO AAC encoder provided for DBPoweramp competes against itunes one, because it will save me a LOT of time to do my conversions

CD -> Apple Lossless on HDD (backup of CD) -> m4a for my 160 GB ipod.

I usually rip to 256 VBR in itunes, and see i go up to 400 in NERO.

So, am I able to acheive itunes ancoding quality for my m4a with Nero encoder, or for quality sake, i must stick with itunes???

Thanks to steer me to the right direction.

Hope my low english skills make me understood by everyone.

    Cheers from France.

    Tapotio.

    Re: Nero AAC question.

If you stick with dMC, you get it's excellent secure ripping and AccurateRip. Also, you can use the "Multi-Encoder" to rip your CD once and make an ALAC (Apple Lossless) and m4a file simultaneously, saving you re-encoding time.

As for quality, I believe the nero encoder provides iTunes quality.

      Thanks again.

      Kind regards,
      Tapotio.

          Hi Spoon,

first thanks for LtData for his valuable advices.

I did find it after searching more.

Spoon, can you help here for:

          - answering the question about Nero quality AAC encoder. Can you confirm LtData opinion?

          - can you steer me to a tutorial to use itunes encoder and the parameters for 256 or 320 kps VBR encoding if i choose to stick with itunes without using it directly (for the multi-encoder option)?

          - a wish : can't DBpoweramp remember custom values entered in tags for further use, preventing me to enter those personal values each time (exemple, classique instead of classical as it is the french traduction)

          Thanks for all.

          Kind regards,
          tapotio.

            Hi all,

i can close that thread because i found an answer to my CLI question!!!!

for the records, here is the url for the solution :

I've just joined up and tried dBpoweramp r12.3, as I have so far been using Exact Audio copy (EAC) and have been looking around if it supports something akin to iTunesEncode which I've been using on EAC. There may be a guide or How-To somewhere, but I mostly came across a few hints in posts that it could use iTunesEncode, and

Thanks to Spoon, LtData and msandersen for the information.

i move my question about improving CD Ripper in the wishlist thread.

            Have a nice day all.
