converting from 5.1 wma lossless: interrupted !

I am trying to convert "6-channel" 5.1 wma lossless (v 9.2) into a different format, yet the converter stops (skips to "conversion 100%, i.e. finished) midway the process, and the resulting wav files (only partially converted) are all 2min27sec long.

Now it doesn't matter to which format I convert (I tried wav 24bit/48khz; wav 16bit/44.1 khz; mp3; ogg), all files are about 2min27sec long.

The original files are all of different length, but longer than 2min27sec.
    E.g.
Size 303.92 MB (60% of original, 1 to 1 compression)
    Original Size 506.27 MB
    Length 5 minutes 34 seconds
    Channels 6 (5.1 surround)
    Sample Rate 88.2 KHz;
    Sample Size 24 bit
    Bit Rate 12,700 kbps (DVD)
Encoder Windows Media Audio 9.2 Lossless
Encoder Settings VBR Quality 100, 88 kHz, 5.1 channel 24 bit 1-pass VBR
    Audio Quality Perfect (Lossless)
Contains ID Tag [WMA ID Tag]
    Channel Mapping
    Type wma File [.wma]

To check whether all the wma 5.1 files were corrupted (unlikely, but I wanted to make sure), I converted other files with Music Converter to wma 5.1, and then tried to convert back to another format, and the same happens: converting to 5.1 wma lossless works, but from 5.1 wma lossless to another format is always interrupted. This is not the case if I convert to 2.0 wma lossless.

I have Music Converter release 12.4
Any ideas what might be the issue? Thanks!

I'm assuming Window Media Player plays these files from end to end, correct?

I'll run some tests on my computer with r13 and see if it behaves any better.

Edit: Converted one of my Wavpack lossless files to WMA 5.1 Lossless 88KHz, like yours. Then converted to mp3 (Helix) Quality 80 with no DSP effects, converted perfectly fine to a mp3 file of equal (same as original) length. Will do more investigating.

Edit2: Converted the 5.1 WMA Lossless to Ogg Vorbis with no problems.

What version of the WMA codec are you using? The latest version is Windows 10 Release 5. If you are already using the latest version, try upgrading to dMC r13.

Edit3: Installing dMC r12.4 and WMA r5 to a test machine.
Edit4: dMC r12.4 and WMA 10 r5 converted the WMA Lossless file to mp3 (Lame) just fine.

Yes, all the 5.1 wma lossless files play without problems (I have Windows Media Player version 10).

Furthermore the issue (incomplete conversion into another format) occurs both with acquired 5.1 wma lossless files, as with files that I converted from another format into 5.1 wma lossless with dMC, yet all of these files play fine in WMP.

      Thanks for looking into it.

Hmm, all the conversions I did, both with r13 and r12.4 Reference, worked just fine. Are you using the free, PowerPack, or Reference version of dMC r12.4?

I'm using r12.4 Reference, and WAS using WMA codec 9 Pro. However, I upgraded to WMA codec 10 pro r5 (XP) and it works fine now.

          Thanks for the help!!!!

Ahh, yea, I think there was a problem with some larger files with the old WMA codec (memory leak or something), glad to hear it works now.
