no sound when compressing mp3 to wav

I have used this program for years and years, before it was dbpoweramp and I never had problems with it. BUT NOW

LOL I try to convert a mp3 to a compressed wave and it comverts/compresses fine or appears to but when you try to play the file there is no sound at all... I reinstalled all the codecs hoping that would rectify the problem but no luck. Any Ideas. :(

Install Audacity, load the wave file so you can look at it to see if it contains any audio.
