Nero M4a Encoder Settings-Why and When

What are the differences in the three forced profiles in the Nero M4a encoder,

    Force LC AAC
    Force HE AAC
    Force HE V2

and when would you use these. I just encoded 54gigs of Wavpaks with no forced profile, and they sound great to me, although a little on the large size, setting used was q.55 VBR. Should I have used one of the forced profiles instead. My primary use is to load up my 160gb ipod, and run it through my receiver to my polk speakers, and also grab the ipod to go.

HE AAC and HE V2 are used to get small files that are specifically designed to sound well at low bitrates. For the best quality and compatability, stick with LC AAC. HE AAC and HE v2 are not compatible with the iPod.

if you rip dbpoweramp as AAC without the m4a and you set the profile to force lc aac, will it play on the ipod? I had it set to no profile and the ipod didn't recognize them

No, you have to rip to m4a for the iPod to play them, it will not play aac files.

it's showing up on the click now. maybe anapod explorer messed it up. I'll try it again

edit. weird. my wife's computer wmp will play it, but mine don't. I use klite codec pack on both

Edit II. I uninstall klite 3.8.5 (klite 3.5.3 is on my wife's comp) and wmp will now play the file. I can verify album art too.

              thanks for the tips
