    normalizing volume

Okay, I'm very new at this stuff. I've tried reading the FAQs but it's still really confusing. I wanted this program in order to change my mp3 files into WMA files (so I could get more songs on my portable mp3 player). I was able to figure that part out with no problem. I also liked the fact that it could normalize the volume. When I burned some CDs, I noticed some songs were really loud while others were very soft. However, I only noticed the difference on the CD-R, not when I played the file on my computer.

    So, here are my questions:

1.) Is there a reason why I can hear such a big difference in volume on the CD-R but not hear that big of a difference when I play the file on my computer? Will the volume normalization feature help that?

2.) I saw the box you could check that says 'normalize volume' while I was actually doing the conversion from mp3 to wma. But, what about all of my existing mp3 files? I'm keeping the mp3 versions and I'd like for them all to be normalized, too. How can I normalize without actually converting all my files?

The answers to these questions may be in the FAQ but the more I searched, the more confused I became. I am just learning about all this stuff.

The Volume Normalize should help, it is not possible to normalize without converting.
