    Newbie question: Batch conversion problem

    Hello,

I've just started using this programme and I'm slightly stuck on batch conversion. My problem is when I convert from MP3 to FLAC they are put in the music file as individual tracks and not as individual folders with all the relevant tags and album art etc.

How do I convert so as I have individual folders for each album/artist ?

If you are changing the directory and are using dBpoweramp Reference, you can use dynamic naming to make a directory from your files based on the tags of the files. If you are not using Reference, you only have the option of putting the files in the same folder or putting all the files in one folder.

    Does this help?

Sort of :o. I'm using dBPoweramp Batch Converter. I'm not sure about the reference part. What is it and will it do the job I'm after i.e. take one file of FLAC music (say New Order) and convert to MP3 in one single file with all the tags etc ?

There are 2 versions of dMC (the dBpowerAMP Music Converter) and both will convert a flac file to mp3 transfering all the tag information. The reference version has extra features one of which allows you to use the tag information in an audio file to determine how it will be organised physically on your hard drive.

BTW Does your flac file consist of a single track or a complete album?

Hi, the FLAC file is the whole album. How do I get the reference version then as this seems to be what I need ? Thanks.

            dBpoweramp Reference:

Set the Dynamic naming option on and choose a naming as desired.

Sorry to ask another question but how do I get the album art into the same file when I convert because at the moment the art isn't saved with the conversion ?

Is there a DSP that can be used to add album art as part of the conversion?

The album art is in the source file? what audio file format?

No, sorry, the album art is not part of the source file (MP3). OK then, my question still stands, what about the album art (and meta data) when converting from MP3 to Flac ? Surely if I convert a whole batch of albums there is a way to include this data ? Thanks again.

Use the DSP effect ID Tag Processing to import from folder.jpg

Thanks very much Wayne and Spoon - I understand that bit now, didn't realise where the dsp options were :o.

But sometimes, when I try to convert my MP3 files to Flac, I get the message saying 'No audio files found'. I have to exit the programme and restart - is this a known problem. It works fine when I try to convert my Flac files to MP3. Do you think this is because they are in a different folder ? i.e. could the MP3 folder be corrupt ?

You have selected the new folder with mp3s? in Batch Converter?

Yes. It's not happening at the moment though. I do believe it is the music folder which has been corrupted because if I want to open it the folder takes an age to do so whereas the same folder on my external hard drive works perfectly.
