    Volume normailizing

I was wondering if the "Volume normalizing" DSP effect does a track by track only normalizing? I noticed that the replay gain effect does offer track and ablum options and personally I would rather default to Album but my setup I am using a Roku and ALAC audio, I had converted since that is the only native format the Roku supports and therefore I could save a little bandwidth. The problem is the player doesn't support replay gain and since there is no transcoding taking place on the Firefly server replay gain can't be interpretted there either. The way I see it I have two options: a) use Volume Normalizing DSP on my library or b) convert to another format (ie FLAC) and try to transcode it at the server end using replay gain as an option.

    Any thoughts? Other suggestions?

The Volume Normalize DSP only does track-by-track normalizing, yes.
