    Encoder speed at 1.0

I'm new at this. So please forgive me if the answer is somewhere else in the forum.

I am converting FLAC files to mp3 and the encoder speed is only 1.0. It takes hours to covert 3 cds.

Also, I downloaded m4a codec ver. 7. But all I get is error messages when I attempt to convert.

    Thanks for your help.

What encoding settings are you using for m4a? Are you forcing a profile such has HE AAC+?

As for FLAC, what are the specs (CPU speed and type, memory amount) of your computer?

Thank you so much. Fixed the M4a problem. And here's the data on the cpu.

      pentium 4, 1.82 GHhz, 512 RAM.

      (Time to upgrade?)

The low amount memory may very well be an issue. Also you can set the flac to do the fast compressing, this will make the files slightly larger, but it should be noticably faster, don't know if this compromise is an option though.
