HELP! Decoding RealMedia no longer works

Used to be able to convert .rm files to .wav no problem. Now it's all screwed up. Sometimes it fails, other times I get only a 1mb .wav file that does nothing. I have all the latest codecs and Real Alternative installed. Also the latest DirectShow files (supposedly).

Tried re-installing everything but no help. (Is there a certain order to install things?)

    Using Reference 12.3 On WindowsXP.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Try playing the files in Windows Media Player, if the DirectShow filter is working correctly it should play fine in WMP.

That's the problem - Win Media Player doesn't play (or even recognize) .rm files any more. I've installed the latest DirectShow files (Nov 2007). I have Win Media Player 11, which doesn't even show .rm as preferred media.

        Uninstall and reinstall Real alternative.

Thanks! That worked -- mostly. I still have a couple of RM files that don't convert correctly. They're an odd size, so maybe they were compressed at some weird rate.

I installed Real Alternative 1.51. Would 1.70 perhaps handle different compression rates?

          Thanks again.
