can't delete folder

hello peeps. this is my first post so i'll be short and sweet. i use dmp music converter to lower the bit rate on a mp3 album in order to save space. converts perfectly but when i go to move or delete the folder it says it is being used by another program and won't let me. is this a bug or am i missing something? (i use xp pro sp2) no other programs are running. i have to reboot to be able to move the folder. any suggestions are appreciated!
also how can i find out which version dmp i am running? thanks!

Search google for 'process explorer' (from Microsoft) this can show which programs have which files open.

thanks for the reply. i did as you suggested but all processes seem ok. they are all ms or firewall processes. am i reading this correctly?

You can look at each process (close as may prgrams as you can), on the tool bar at the top select the 'view handles' option, do this for each program listed until you find one that has the file open in the folder you are trying to move.

found the file in explorer.exe and closed the handle and deleted the file. any clue as to why certain folders hang up like this after converting?

sorry it took so long to get back but it has been really hectic around here for a couple of days. yes i believe it was explorer.exe or widows explorer that had the folder open. thanx

hi all,
i believe xrolyatx must have install something is called " codec pack" in his system(such as k-lite, moon, ...etc) .
use "unlocker",a small tool, may help so much.

thanks for the advice. i will try unlocker the next time this occurs. spoon's suggestion also worked fine. don't remember installing any codec packs but use a few different programs for editing all with their own codecs. (nero, goldwave, qmp, dmc, wmp, etc.) this only happens occasionally after converting, so i can live with it. maybe my system has a glitch. i think some of my ram is going bad or cpu is overheating. maybe this is the problem. thanks for the time and advice!
