'Album Artist' Tag Problem with Slimserver

    Hi all,

while trying to organize my FLACs in Slimserver I ran into a bit of a problem with albums from more than one contributing Artist but just one 'Album Artist' (say, you want to have the Blues Brothers soundtrack to be displayed only under 'Blues Brothers', not under 'Cab Calloway' etc, and not under 'various artists). According to the documentation, Slimserver makes use of the Album Artist (TPE2) tag to allow for this.

Now, this didn't work as I thought it would...after a bit of fiddling around I found that Slimserver does not recognize the 'Album Artist' tag as used by dbpoweramp / CD Ripper (I'm using R12.3). Manually defining a tag 'ALBUMARTIST' in dbpoweramp, though, does give the desired result.

My question: Is it possible to make the 'Album Artist' field in the CD Ripper GUI to write a 'ALBUMARTIST' tag instead of 'Album Artist', or automatically create an additional 'ALBUMARTIST' tag with the same value as the 'Album Artist' tag when an 'Album Artist' tag value is given in the GUI?

BTW - I don't know if the tag is case sensitive, but last night I didn't feel like experimenting any further after I found a working tag...

Use the ID Tag Processing DSP effect and map it.

Thanks for the quick reply! That does the trick.

BTW - is there any sort of standardization effort going on? I've seen the same tag being interpreted as Band, Album Artist, Ensemble, or just not recognized at all by different programs...that can't be right (or in anyone's interest)...

It is upto the author of FLAC to set a standard, I have asked, but nothing so far...
