Re-encoding FLAC files with newer version

    Hi,

I have about 2,000 songs which I ripped to flac version 1.1.3 using Reference. Now that the new flac versions are out, should I re-encode to the newer version? If yes, do I need any kind of error-checking program to make sure that the flac to newer flac conversion gets executed properly?

Also, I have seen forum discussions about converting to WAV first, then back to Flac. Is there an advantage to that vs Flac to Flac?

    Thanks.

Do not go to wave first, you might loose some id tags.

If you really must convert, then it is best if you convert all to a new folder, and delete old after the conversion has been verified (there is an option on dbpoweramps flac encoder to check the encoded files for errors).

If you do not have the space (it is a good time to do a backup to dvd-r), then convert all your flac files to 'test conversion', any errors will be shown there.
