    Copyright protection

Is there any way round the copyright protection when attempting to convert from .wma to .mp3?
I have all my cd's ripped into .wma and don't want to have to rip them all over again, so got dBpowerAMP but it won't convert cos of copyright.

Not really. There are utilities out there that will do this, but under US law (specifically the DMCA) these are illegal. Their use in EU countries may also become illegal due to the implementation of the EU Copyright Directive.

Re-ripping your music will result in better quality files anyway.

It couldn't convert them even if it wanted to, the ability is just not there.
