Rip to Ram problem.

Excellent program! I am really impressed. I do have one problem though. Rip to Ram is definitely not faster on my machine, it's slower. I have located any minimum requirements on the site, so thought I'd ask about it here. I realize it could very well be my old computer is the problem. I tried it by setting the Ram to Use to 128, and auto, seemed to make no difference. I had 230 megs free, I was monitoring it, and no more than 80 megs was ever used, by the convertion.

XP Pro sp1
Dell Optiplex GX1
PII 450
384 megs of ram
Samsung CDR 8.8.32

IF it's a case of my CDR being too old, that's easily rectified. Or maybe I just need to tweak something?

80 sounds about right, it will only allocate the maximum 1 track requires.

Did you have the 'Encode at Same Time' option on as well?

To do speed trials, try going to wave files as a test, what 'x ripping speed' were you getting?

Yes, using Rip and Encode At The Same Time
Ripping speed is 12 to 13x, wav or mp3.

Please rip to a wave file (quite a large track) with Rip to Ram on and off and post the times.

I see I was wrong, it is faster, but not much..........

That is almost a 20% speed increase (on the wave anyhow).

Even if you got a cd drive that could rip at x24 you can knock about 14 seconds off the mp3 or wave time, so no huge speed increase.

Ok.... no big deal really, it's just that on the Power pack page it states
Lightening Fast CD Ripping with 'Rip to Ram' and 'Rip & Encode at Same Time' options,

I expected more, but it's not a problem, I love this software! :D
