According to the Technical Info button in R13alpha2's CD Ripper, this drive:
- has a 4MB cache
- supports accurate stream
- reports C2 errors
However:
- cache detection detects no cache using several clean test discs.
- the C2 test reads the entire disc and does not set C2 errors using several scratched discs.
- AccurateRip tries to configure using many discs but always fails - it also sometimes takes 10 minutes to fail.
I have two of these drives connected via firewire (via OXFW911 bridges). I've upgraded the firmware in the drives (to 2.45) as well as one of the bridges (to 3.80). I've stripped out all of the upper and lower filter layer drivers in XP (from Sonic Solutions and Gear).
Still the drive behaves just as it did in the beginning.
Is the Technical Info report wrong? Is the drive just horribly buggy or maybe just horrible? Anyone have a clue why the tests and accuraterip configs give the results they do?
