How do I know Verify Written Audio is working?

I have the 'After Encoding Verify Written Audio' box checked but it doesn't appear to be doing any verifying. I assume this is like Secure mode in EAC? I see it go through the Ripping and Encoding process but there's no verification process. In fact, after the selected songs are compressed Rip Status shows up as '(X) Not in AcurrateRip'

On a side note, will the cd ripper slow the cd down to compensate for scratched CD's and retry the hard-to-read areas? Or is there an option you need to enable to do this?

    Thanks for the help!

Enable Secure Ripping in the Options. Note: click the button, not the arrow.

Gotcha. I've been clicking the arrow.

So what does 'After Encoding Verify Written Audio' do?

As described in the help file for the codec, it verifies that the audio matches the source. This will normally just catch write/read errors or, rarely, codec-induced errors.
