How many re-reads are reasonable with C2 enabled?

    Hi,

I use a Plextor PX-760A for ripping. C2 is enabled and the amount of maximum re-reads is set to 700 according to your settings here. Now I'm asking myself if this high value can leave unrecoverable frames undetected. Is this concern founded?

    Thanks

No, it is only used after the unrecoverable frames have been found, so 1 or 700 makes no difference to detection, only recovery.

So does this high amount of re-reads make it more probable for unrecoverable frames to be wrongly reported as recovered during recovery? According to the documentation a frame counts as recovered, when there are ten matching read results. The more re-reads the program does the higher is the probability of getting ten matching inaccurate frames, isn't it?

Not if your c2 implementation is good.

Well, and how do I know, if the C2 implementation of the PX-760A is good?

Generally Plextors have good c2 implementations, I would trust it.
