    Problem with Auxiliary Input

    Hi,
I've had the music converter with the Power Pack for a couple years now, I think. For the longest time, it worked great. I especially used it to grab streaming browser audio of various sources.

But within the past few weeks, it's stopped working. Here's what happens. I'll have my streaming audio playing in my browser. I'll launch the auxiliary input and press Test Recording Level -- it shows that there's audio. So then I go to actually record, as I've always done. When I press Record, the bar showing the audio activity goes blank after a second. I then press Record again to stop the recording. It should then take me to the Convert box, but it doesn't. It seems to hang there. I have to go back to the other window, where it shows "Converting file 1 of 1 to mp3 (lame)", and click the X to close out. Nothing is recorded/saved. I've tried this with numerous streams, always with the same results. Any ideas?

You have dMC r11.5 installed and did NOT upgrade to r12, correct? I ask this because Aux Input is not compatible with dMC r12, as stated here: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=7318

No, it is version 11.5. I have not upgraded.

Sorry for the delay in my responses. I have the "instant e-mail notification" checked on this topic, but I'm not getting notified by e-mail when you reply. Not in my junk mail, either.

Anyway, yes, I looked thru the tips. I have my volume levels set. And what's weird is that when I'm getting ready to record, the meter is showing that there is output. But then when I actually press "record" to begin recording, within about 3 seconds the meter drops down to zero. And when I press "record" again to stop recording, it doesn't complete the conversion the way it did before.

I really haven't changed my options since installing it, but when I launch the Aux Input and then go into Options, I don't see where the setting is to choose a different file format. I've been capturing as MP3 all along, and that's the way I leave it. The settings I see there are the "output to" file directory, the "file creation" logic, auto start and auto end settings, record using, input source, and quality.

Strangely enough, I changed my quality down to 22.5/16/stereo, and it recorded. The quality sounded muffled, like it was at the bottom of a well. When I bump the 22.5 up to 44.1, same thing - it records, but the output is muffled. And when I bump it up to 96, I go back to the original problem of it not recording or converting at all.

Could I try re-installing this version? I would need the file from you, as I don't have the original installation file anymore.

I believe you can find a download link for dMC r11.5 here:

(compatibility page accessed from dMC page acessed by Products tab).

Do you have the same problem if you try to record to wave?

            Best wishes,
            Bill
