encode to m4a or aac?

Hi guys,

I have downloaded both m4a codec and aac codec from the codec central and have installed nero aac encoder.

Any quality difference between the above 2 format? i am deciding to convert my current music but dont know which format is better in terms of quality or the both actually offer the same quality as they are both using nero encoder?

The reason i asked is because my mobile phone audio player (built-in)does not recognise m4a. only recognise aac. 3rd party player plays m4a perfectly.

should m4a offer better quality than aac, then i will go for 3rd party player and convert all my musics to m4a.

Just so you know, m4a audio is simply AAC audio in a MPEG-4 container, so the quality is identical.
