Can't see file types in folders to convert anymore

I just upgraded to the newest free DB power amp after having paid for the old 2005 version, and was happy with it. It was easy to go to a folder, find a wav file and select it to convert to MP3. Now, none of the files show their extension in the folders. Under type it says Winamp media file for everything.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks,
    Lani

Still Can't see file types in folders to convert anymore

I don't use Explorer, I use Mozilla. I don't have the folder option even on Explorer for View and Unhide even listed and I have the latest version of Windows XP. Is there any way to download the old version I paid for before? That worked fine. I need to see my file extensions to convert.
      Thanks,
      Lani

That is because Winamp groups all files together, installing any version of dbpoweramp will not change this.

You went to Tools --> Folder Options and you don't have a "View" tab there? That doesn't sound right.
And what do you mean "I use Mozilla"? You use mozilla to view the files on your computer?
