    ISRC Codes

    Hi

Apologies if this is a basic question but I heave searched the forums with no luck so far.

I see that CD Ripper has support for ISRC codes, but this data isn't in the metadata for any of the CD's I have tried ripping so far. Are there some additional steps I need to take to be able to capture the ISRC code for a CD during the ripping process?

    Many thanks

    Julian

    Re: ISRC Codes

ISRC can either come from the CD its self (sub codes) few cds have it though, or a UPC from All Media Guide.

      Thanks for the reply, Spoon.

So, if the ISRC isn't present on the CD are you saying I'll be able to get it from AMG as part of the metadata lookup Or will I just be able to get the UPC that way?

      Many thanks

          Re: ISRC Codes

          Hi

Just picking this one up again after a couple of months focussing on other items.

I'm still not seeing any ISRC codes, despite ripping many CDs which definitely have them present. The ripper reports my drive as being capable of reading ISRC codes, so there must be something else I'm doign wrong. Any suggestions?

          Many thanks!

CD Ripper >> Options >> ID Tags >> Options

make sure ISRC has the option.

Thanks - just checked this and it definitely already selected. Anything else I can check?

              Many thanks

Right click on the coloumns in CD Ripper and add ISRC so it is displayed if there.

Many cd drives cannot read ISRC.

                  Thanks for the reply Spoon.

I have the ISRC column displayed in CDRIpper, but its blank no matter which CD I try. However, when I go into Options..Techinal it says the CDROM supports ISRC, as follows:

                  Manufacturer: SONY
                  CD Drive: DVD+-RW DW-Q58A
                  Firmware: UDS2
                  Serial: 2006/03/19 17:56
                  Maximum Speed: 4234 KB/sec (x24)
                  Current Speed: 4234 KB/sec (x24)
                  Spin-down After: 2 minutes
                  Buffer Size: 2 MB
                  Accurate Stream: Yes
                  C2 Error Pointers: Yes
                  Reads ISRC: Yes
                  Reads UPC: Yes

Any more clues? Sorry to be so persistent but ISRC support is one of the main reasons I chose dbPoweramp and its been flawless apart from this one issue.

                  thanks

                  Julian

                    Re: ISRC Codes

I would not always believe what is shown from a drive (some drives say C2 error pointers: yes, but when you try c2 the drive never reports them).

Are you 100% sure the drive can read ISRC?

                      Hi Spoon

No - I've never tried reading ISRC codes with any other software so I'm not certain. Can you recommend a CD drive that definitely supports ISRC reading that I can try out?

                      thanks

Not sure off the top of my head, I had a bunch of drives I used for writing the code.
