I'm Stuck! Please Help.

I have been following the instructions for AAC/MP4. First of all, I already have music downloaded to my computer. (not sure if I can use thesse files or if I have to get music straight from a CD). I did try to use a couple of these files. I made a folder on the computer called downloads, ran dBpowerAmp and opened this file. I Changed the drop downs to "Wave", "16 Bit (CD)", "22050 Hz", "1 'Mono'", Output To: "Folder", and "Browse" to select your "Desktop". i converted it and finished. i ran the sound recorder and changed the songs to how i wanted them and saved them. Now im stuck. I opened dBpowerAmp, but I cant find where to open the file. am i doing this wrong? Do i need to uses an actual CD? Please help? Thx

Right click on a file and select Convert To.
