    CD Grab error

I have just used the cd ripper to rip a cd and now whenever I try another cd I get this message -

" CDGrab.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I am using registered version 12.1. I have reinstalled the software a couple of times, rebooted, swapped cd drives etc but nothing works!!

This is pretty disappointing - anyway of getting it to work?

    Re: CD Grab error

I have totally removed Dbpower from everywhere including registry and reinstalled it now works spasmodically - sometimes reading discs and sometimes not. When it doesnt it crashes - not surwe if its when it attepmydto ge teh track details or not. Maybe its the discs - it is a set of 10 cd's I am trying to rip

I was able to rip the cds via media player and cdex.

I installed it on my laptop to get a comparison and it ran into problem with the internet connection as the wireless had been turned off - once rectified it then crashed everytime I tried the cd.

With more cd's it is now only working on some cd's - as I said other software has read all cd's fine.

      Re: CD Grab error

I cant believe how it keeps crashing on both computers - so inconsistent - although ctashes more often than not - the laptop was a fresh install of the registered software - I'm thinking its got something to do with the attempt to get on to the accurate rip or the AMG - or it just doesnt like the cd's.

Try this, switch on debug mode (run dBpoweramp configuration and on the music convert tab check debug). Then press WINDOWS KEY + R and type:

        %tmp%

        press enter.

Run cd ripper so it crashes, and look for a new txt file, that contains the debugging information, post it here please.

        ---------------

It could be yuo have 1 cd and the lookup of amg is returning bad results which is crashing, try unchecking the AMG option before inserting a cd.

Try changing the "Communication" setting under the "CD ROM" section to "Windows Internal" and unchecking "CD-Text" under the arrow beside "Meta". Does this help any?

              Re: CD Grab error

I turned the AMG option off - and the 1st previously crashing cd i tried has now not caused the program to crash and is now ripping the cd.

The "Cd text" option has made no difference by turning it on or off.

I have now tried the same thing with my laptop and the same result has occurred - ie turning the all media guide off has allowed the program to keep running.

              So why is that?

Actually -when i 1st did it - and although it worked - the files came up like this..

The Best Singles Of All time - Disc 1 The 60's
                isc 1 - isc 1 - 20 - Save The Last Dance For Me.mp3
                isc 1 - isc 1 - 19 - Young Girl.mp3
                isc 1 - isc 1 - 18 - Runaway.mp3 ... etc

                Instead of something like this...
The Best Singles Of All Time - Disc 8 The Nineties -
                20 Puff Johnson - Over & Over.mp3
                19 3T - Anything.mp3
                18 Diana King - Shy Guy.mp3 ... etc

Forgot to mention where that is found. The "CD ROM" section of the main Options menu in the CD ripper.

Yep - Thanks - found it - finally - but - as its working ok at the minute I might leave it as it is, although perhaps I could try changing to internal when I turn the AMG back on.
