cannot install nero digital enconders

Can you please help me? I'm using release 11 converter but cannot play m4a files.
I have tried installing the nero digital audio files but it just is not working. I have followed your quite strange instructions to the letter. what am I doing wrong do you have to install the codecs in a set order. Many Thanks Al-Man

Have you tried using r12 instead? dMC r12 includes many bug fixes and more features over r11.

If you want to stay with r11, could you list the procedure you went through to install the encoder?

Thanks for your quick reply LtData. I have managed to install the nero digital encoder. I was installing it to the encoder folder not the compression one. Talk about dumb. But I am still unable to open the m4a files in amp or dMC 11.
I have not installed dMC 12 yet as I use the fantastic Sweta and amp. Hopefully Spoon will soon upgrade them. I'm using xp and if you have any other ideas of how I could get these files to work I would appreciate it. Many Thanks Al-Man

Since you are using r11, did you get the m4a codec from Legacy Codec Central? If not, you need to. Legacy Codec Central is linked to from the main Codec Central.

Thanks again LtData for your quick reply. Yes I am using the correct legacy codecs. The files will play on itunes and sound fine on my ipod. I tried burning them to cd with itunes but the sound quality was atrocious. Have you any other ideas. Cheers Al-Man

So you can encode to m4a, correct? What encoding settings are you using? What were the specs (bitrate, channels, frequency) and type of the file you encoded from?

Thanks again LtData for your quick reply. I don't think it is a problem with dmc.
I think that these files must be iTunes protected. Thanks again for all your help .
I don't suppose you know of any program I could burn them to cd with other than iTunes.

No, only iTunes can burn those files to CD.
