What are you doing when it crashes? Trying to convert a file? Rip a CD?

What version are you using, r12.1? What version of Windows are you using?

Windows XP home, I open it and it is trying to open and that is when it crashes. The program version is R12.1. I don't even get a chance to use the software before it crashes my system. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it and everytime it just ask me if i want to open the help so i think i have the program still around somewhere in my system and that is messing it up.

Try a total uninstall here: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=6828. Does that work?

          Re: trouble with dBpower Converting

When you installed R12.1, did you install it to the same location as your old version? Did you keep the old codecs?

R12.1 is a complete re-write and is NOT compatible with earler versions of dMC. It is NOT compatible with the earlier codecs (which are now known as Legacy Codecs).

So (assuming you do not have Sveta, dB CD Writer, or dB Audio Player installed and you do not want to keep the older version of dMC around for the few other features not or not yet available in R12.1) uninstall dMC, follow the procedure here (FAQ section of Forum): http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=3374 to clear the registery, and re-boot. Remove any icons or old folders for dMC. Uninstall all codecs. Then re-install dMC R12.1 and install the codecs you need from Codec Central (all of the codecs at Codec Central are designed for dMC R12 and later).

If you are running one of the other dMC programs I mentionned, and/or if you want to run and older version of dMC as well a r12.1, please read and follow the instructions here: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/legacy-compatibility.htm. Remember that the newer codecs currently in CODEC Central will NOT work with these other programs (until they get upgraded too). These older programs ONLY work with the Legacy Codecs available from Legacy Codec Central here: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/legacy/cod...ral-legacy.htm

Hopoe this helps. Please let us know how you make out.

          Best wishes,
          Bill

For the most part that is what happen. The old one was crashing so i tried uninstalling but it would say it was complete with the uninstall but all the files were there so I deleted them from the HDD and the Reg and installed the new version. I will try the links and get back to you with the results.
