    More upgrade troubles

Been a real happy DBpowerAMP user for years, just upgraded so I could convert FLACs, tried it out the first time and boom. Totally explodes. I let it uninstall the previous version and cannot find an old copy or any of the registration info. I would love to keep using and recommending DB if I could, but this looks bad. I saved some error messages if anyone wants a look.

    Help greatly appreciated.

Could you tell us exactly what you are trying to do and the error messages, please?

      Sorry for the delay.

This is on a Win98SE machine, as well as an XP, but I haven't documented the XP yet.

-The CD ripper will rip one track and then hang at 99%.

-Music Converter gives the illegal operation box and then this info:

MUSICCONVERTER caused a general protection fault

I hope this helps. I am a huge supporter and DB had become a tool I use almost second-nature.

      Thanks!

The ATI2DRAA.DRV is your video card, the driver for a video card should not crash no-matter what dbpoweramp tries to draw...

XP should not crash the same.

ATI, sure. How weird. I know in other situations the video card can do inexplicable things. So am I stuck>? I found an old version of DB and it still works great, but will not handle FLACs. I will examine the XP machine and see what the errors are there.

          Thanks

Oh yeah: when running the ripper, the DOS window is displayed on top.

When dMC crashes, is it immediately after it hits 99% or after a while? If you close the DOS window when dMC says 99%, does it finish encoding?

Legacy FLAC codecs are in the legacy codec central.

No, it hangs at 99%, even though the encoding is complete- seems to render the graphic (which is way cool, BTW) one selection then stop- I left it for 3 hours to be sure. Everything locks and I had to use the 3-finger salute to get out.

I can reinstall it and keep a much more accurate log for you if you want, I thought since 98 is sort of a legacy app by now it would be unimportant to you. I am very grateful for your concern even to this point. A lot of developers I have worked with just say, "Sorry. . "

Try a file with no ID Tags, at the end it will be writing the id tags to the front of the flac file, which if over a network can be very slow.
