    v12.1 trouble

    Greetings.

Apolgies if this is not the correct place to post this problem.

Running xp, asus pdb-e mobo, 2 DVDR writers, plus Alocohol which installed a virtal DVDR drive.

Just installed 12.1 and for the 1st cd rip it is fine. I ripped to flac with all the expected functionality (pulled songs off the freedb + cover art etc.).

When I eject and put a new disk in, it does not see it. I then tried the disk in anothr drive, but it will not see it. I keep hitting refresh, but no go. Then, the only drive that dbA see's is the Virtual Drive.

When I go to Windows Explorer to see my DVDr drives, windows explorer is non responsive. I am testing ver.11 on that computer now. Seems to be fine - although no nearly as good an interface & tools.

One more thing, I am running 12.1 on my laptop (with one DVDr & the virtual drive) and it works great.

    Anythoughts?

    Thanks,

    The Bud Man

    Re: v12.1 trouble

Are you in secure or burst mode? Reference, PowerPack, or free?
Is your CD drive SATA or IDE?
If you rip to another format, say mp3, does it still lock up?
What is your CPU speed and amount of RAM?
Does it matter which drive you rip with?
Try switching the setting for Communication, found in the Options menu in the CD ROM section, to "Windows Internal" and see if this helps.

      Re: v12.1 trouble

This is a most unsatisfying post, but I unintalled (again) then did a system restore (prior to 1st install). The re-installed and ... it works fine. I will let you know if something develops. From the looks of the forum, no else was having this problem, so I will assume it was pilot error.

      Thanks for the quick response!
