    Problem with AMG

I recently purchased the Reference version. Up until this afternoon everything was working well. Now, it no longer connects to AMG to obtain cover art or songs. I did double check all the settings. At this point, it seems to get everything from the freedb but no cover art. The ony thing I changed today was to go from a wireless card to a wired LAN setup, no proxy. All other programs can access the net just fine, like JRMC and Explorer.

Is AMG down, or is something else the problem?

Check dBpoweramp Configuration (see "finding version numbers below" to see if your AMG access expired.

Did you install the separate .exe for your 1-year of AMG access? It was sent in a separate e-mail from the Reference download.

      Re: Problem with AMG

The subscription information correctly shows 362 days remaining. I can access the freedb no problem, but AMG cannot get anything...just tries and then comes back with no information.

I am begining to wonder if the AMG system is down or something.

Click the arrow beside the Meta button and make sure the "All Media Guide" choice is checked.

Yes, I have done that several times, even manually asking it to access AMG it did not do it. I have unistalled and re-installed both the program and the AMG license and nothing. Any other ideas?

In dBpoweramp Configuration, enable Debug mode, start up the CD ripper, tell it to retrieve from AMG, close the CD ripper, and paste the debug log here.

Also, what firewall are you running?

I will do that and be right back. The firewall is the Windows XP firewall...nothing too exotic, and it was working this morning.

Here is the debug result....also, as I said earlier, the only thing that changed is the connection to the net. I did not allow file and printer sharing when I set up the wired connection...could that be the problem?

Can you switch back to your wireless to test to see if you can still get AMG that way?

                    Re: Problem with AMG

I re-installed the card and it works with the wireless PCI card. Does the AMG registration somehow know which was the original connection?

The good news...problem solved. The bad news, I don't know what or how. I re-installed the wireless card, rebooted and it worked just fine. I then de-activated the card, but left it in the pci slot and hooked up the LAN wire, re-started the program and it worked just fine??? I then removed the pci card, rebooted and it still works just fine. Thank you for your assistance. I wish I could tell you what the problem was, but I have no idea.

                        Re: Problem with AMG

No, AMG doesn't care what the connection is.

As to why reinstalling the card and then removing it later fixed the problem is beyond me. Chalk it up to Windows being weird.
