Easier way to add track numbers and titles?

    Hello all.

I have around 82 WAVs I am converting to MP3s by right clicking and going to "Convert to". I wish to add ID3 tags to them all, and so I add a tag element option and type in the constants, i.e. year, artist, album, disc number.

However, I cannot seem to add ID3 fields for the variables, i.e. track numbers and names. Is there a way to add in track numbers and titles using the "ID3 tag processing" DSP effect? Do I put # in the track number field, for example?

    Thank you.

There was a utility codec that would do this called "Tag from Filename". However, it has not been ported to r12 yet, so you will probably have to manually tag the files one a ta time, unfortunately. I don't know of a way to use variables to tag files.

Thanks for that. Is there any idea if or when this will come over to v12?

No idea, but I think it will come out for r12 at some point.

Tag from Filename is available from Codec Central.

              Many thanks!

Can this be used in conjuction with the ID3 tag writer, i.e. can I tag files from filename to fill in track numbers and titles and then use the writer to fill in genre, year, etc?

Probably would have to do 2 runs: once for the tag from filename, once for the "ID Tag Update" utility codec.

You're right, I did that and it works fine.

                  Many thanks indeed.
