The new TooLame encoder is very promising, and we were just about ready to deploy it when we ran into a strange problem:
We cannot make it work if the user does not have local admin rights.
I combed through the system and found every piece of the codec and dBpoweramp all their registry settings and gave Full rights to everyone - but it still only works if the logged in user has full local admin rights.
I'm not sure how to account for that, or how you could account :cry: for it... the are XP workstations using Active Directory for authentication - but any thoughts you may have would be very helpful.
