    C2 error pointer setup question

I've DB ref12 working great.. ripping to ALAC files and all is working fine. EXCEPT when I set the secure ripping options to use C2 error pointers my drive slows from 24-48 times ripping speed to 4-5 ! Any ideas?? All my rips are fine ,accurate and secure or Ultra, so why would I, or should I use the C2 function and slow things to a crawl. What advantage is there in using the C2 ?

C2 is an extra error detection layer as far as the ripper is concerned, normally drives do not slow down when doing cw pointers.

I should have only one of my drives does... the one that slows way down is a DVD Rom, which is a 48X drive, the other drive is a DVD R/W 12X drive, it does not exhibit this fluke.. strange huh?
