    Cannot convert Flac files

Hi! I'm new to the forum, hope someone can help me. I'm having a problem converting flac files to wav, mp3, etc. I just got a new computer which runs with vista. My old one was xp. I had the converter installed on my old computer and had no problem converting, but now if I right click, "convert to" is no longer there. This is only on flac files though, I can convert mp3s just fine.
I saw this in the FAQ section:
'Convert To' Has Disappeared From Right Click Menu

Your file associations have changed, this is not a problem run dMC Configuration found in Start >> Programs >> dBpowerAMP Music Converter >> Configuration >> dBpoweramp Configuration

click Ok, and Convert To will be put back.

I did it to no avail. I even went to the 'music converter tab', unchecked and recheked the "convert to on right click menu" just to make sure it would take, but it did not. Then I saw this in the "known bugs and fixes thread" in FAQ:
On Vista if a file association has been manually changed, right click Convert To is missing, even after running dBpoweramp Configuration.
    Fixed In R12.1:

    http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=12538

So clicked that link but all that did was uninstall and reinstall the same thing since I aleady had the 12.1 version.
So now I've trouble shot all I know to do and I'm stuck. Am I missing a step somewhere or is this a known problem with Azureus or Vista? The only flac files I have are Azureus but I was able to convert them fine on my old pc. I do have the Flac codec downloaded as well, no problem there. Any ideas? :( Thanks in advance.

BTW, if I open the music converter on it's own instead of right clicking on the file, when I click on a folder to access the file I want to convert, I ge the message "no items match your search" even though I know for a fact they are there in that folder.

    Re: Cannot convert Flac files

Can you please copy your dBpowerAMP Configuration details and post them here for us to check. What happens if you right click on one of the flac files and examine the files audio properties?

      Re: Cannot convert Flac files

If I right click on the file, there is no 'audio properties' tab or 'ID tag' tab. If I look at the properties on many of the thousands of mp3s, mpegs or any other type file, I have those tabs and everything is fine. It is as if dbpoweramp does not recognize Azureus downloads.

Here are the details you requested:

And this is what I see when I click on the properties of an Azureus download:

      Thank you!

You are clicking on a torrent file, NOT a flac file. Find where Azureus downloaded this file to and then right-click on it.

OK. So I checked on Azureus and I got:
          Save .torrent files
          saving directory: C:\Users\angie\AppData\Roaming\Azureus\torrents

So I went there, right clicked on the file and still no option to convert. I'm so confused as this was no problem at all when my old pc. And Azureus is being no help at all. I posted the same question on their forum as I also cannot use their converter FLAC frontend either, but the only thing they will say to me is "we are not responsible for the content you download."

Nonono, you are still trying to convert a torrent file. Where did Azureus put the data you downloaded?

              Re: Cannot convert Flac files

There are olny two places on my pc where there is Azureus anything. One is the above mentioned location which Azureus says is the "saving directory" C:\Users\angie\AppData\Roaming\Azureus\torrents

              And then this location-
              C:\users\angie\documents\Azuerus downloads

The second location I mentioned is the one I've been trying to work with the entire time, but files in neither location have a 'convert' option listed on right click.
The second location, Azureus downloads folder, was also where I could access the convert option on my old pc.

The download location, do you have a .flac file there with the filename of "Lindsey Buckingham Rockin[1].flac"?

There is no file that is just ".flac"
                  It is ".flac.torrent"

That file is definitely a torrent file as a flac file would be > 1MB not just a few KB.

Are you sure that Azureus has actually downloaded the file?

                      Re: Cannot convert Flac files

Well, it appears the problem is going to work itself out. I now think the problem is with my computer. I have only had it for about 10 days, but I have already spent countless hours on the phone and live chat with HP trying to work out glitches and freezing problems. Anyway my pc randomly shut down last night and it took a while to get it back up and running, and when it did, a lot of my files were in strage places or missing, but the file in question was as it should have been all along, simply a flac file able to be converted. So thank you everyone for you help in trying to resolve this issue, but I think I will take advantage of my 30 day return policy and get a new pc. I think I got a dud.
