System freezing when converting to MP3

Am trying to convert CD to MP3 files. Conversion process reaches between 50 and 75% complete when computer freezes and needs reboot. Have tried converting with normal, low and high priority and with Windows in safe mode - makes no difference. If I select just half the tracks on the CD everything works fine. Using windows 2000. Any advice appreciated.

Try rpping to Wave, does that crash? then try converting all the wave files to mp3.

Have converted CD to Wave - no problem. Converting Wave to MP3 the system froze after the conversion was 57% complete.

Your CPU (or other component) is overheating and crashing the system.

Thank you for the advice. I have now upgraded from ver 11.5 to 12.1 and the MP3 conversions now work fine. Perhaps my original software had become corrupted?

No program should be able to freeze windows 2000.
