I think this might be in the known list (the error message is, maybe not these circumstances), but I convert regularly from MP2 to MP3, the MP2 generated either by a DAB radio or the edited output from "MP3DirectCut". Fine under R11.5 but under R12 using the same source file, the output is generated but is corrupt, with a Dr Watson output and the following message:

"Error: Watchdog timeout, possible CoreConverter crash"

Can supply source MP2 if necessary.

Sadly it still fails, though this time it gets to the end of the encode phase then the XP message "DBPowerAmp has generated an error, please send details to microsoft about this error" dialogue and drwtsn32.exe runs up as it did on R12. No mention of CoreConverter crashing. The "Finish" box lights up and pressing it closes DBPA down.

The output file is playable but incomplete (the 80 mins MP2 got truncated to 72 mins MP3).

MP2 input was 75 meg, MP3 output with R11.5 112 meg, with R12.1 68 meg.

Try to do a "Test Conversion" to make sure dMC can interpret your entire file. Does it still crash or does it finish successfully?

Yes that finishes successfully with no errors. From the previous attempt to convert to MP3 which failed, this is the error log from eventvwr, suggesting it's the MP3 encoder:

Faulting application coreconverter.exe, version 12.1.0.1, faulting module mp3 (lame).dll, version 12.1.0.1, fault address 0x000364ba.

Can you convert your files to a WAV file? What are the specs (frequency, channels, etc) of your source file and your settings for mp3 conversion that caused the crash?

Yes conversion to WAV is fine, and the resulting WAV file can be converted to MP3 without problem.

The source file is 48kHz / 16 bit / 128kbps / stereo, I have output set to 128kbps and everything else "as source". The error from the MS dialogue is:

AppName: coreconverter.exe AppVer: 12.1.0.1 ModName: mp3 (lame).dll ModVer: 12.1.0.1 Offset: 000364ba

The file is 120 mins long and I can shorten it without re-coding using "mp3directcut". If I cut it down to 75 mins (cutting the beginning off) then all 75 mins code, if I make it 78 ins, then it fails at the end of the encode process.

Like I said, R11.5 encodes them all fine.
