    Converting m4b problems

I have an audio book that is in a m4b format. I installed:
    dBpoweramp-Codec-m4a.exe,
    dBpoweramp-Codec-aac-encoder.exe, and
dBpoweramp-Codec-m4a-utilities.exe from Codec Central. I get the error message:
    Error converting to mp3 (Lame), 'C:\My Shared Folder\TheLionsGameUnabridged\TheLionsGameUnabridg edPart1.m4b' to 'C:\My Shared Folder\TheLionsGameUnabridged\TheLionsGameUnabridg edPart1.mp3'
Error: Unable to load decoder for file type '.m4b', codec not installed? visit 'Codec Central'. [dBCoreConverter::dBCoreConverter]

    when trying to convert.

    Any help would be welcome,
    Thnx

    Re: Converting m4b problems

when i was writing the post i noticed all the .exe's read m4a and so i figured it was a reference problem with the wrong extension. I renamed to m4a and it was still a problem. Any help welcome.

Where did your file come from? If it was purchased via iTunes, it is copy-protected and cannot be converted by dMC until the protection is removed.

i too got that error so i upgraded the codec to the beta. still got that error so decided to upgrade to the newest dbpoweramp software. now i can not see any of the files for conversion when trying to convert. i got this program mainly to convert audible files to mp3. do i need to just go back to the old software for this?

What files are not being seen? .m4b files? Again, where did your files come from?

Check dBpoweramp Configuration to make sure that the mp4/m4a codec is installed correct (Start Menu --> Programs --> dBpoweramp Music Converter --> Configuration --> dBpoweramp Configuration).

Unfortunately, we cannot offer help for aa files due to Audible's protestation, as stated here: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthre...ewpost&t=12620
