    Really Stupid Question about Updating

Hi. Before I bork up my system, which I'm really good at, I thought I might as well ask...

I have a registered version of dBPowerAMP installed version 11. I also have an additional codec or two installed.

I want to move to version 12 for updated, faster LAME encodes. I have read that to move to version 12, I just install over my current installation. That sure sounds easy!

Here's my question. When I install over the old version, what happens to the old **installed** codecs, such as WMA, multi-encode, etc. Do I reinstall them? Should I have uninstalled something first?

I am adept at breaking things, so please be gentle :-)

dMC r12 uses a new codec system, so you need to re-install all of your codeds. Most codecs are in Codec Central while some codecs that are still in beta are in the Beta section of this forum.

So yes, uninstall all of your current codecs. In fact, your best bet would be to get a new r12 registered install. Instructions are found here: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/registration/
