Arrange Audio "Codec" Core Converter issue

    Hi,

I have a registered version of R12 having upgraded from R11.5 recently. I am running Vista (RTM). I have a music collection of several 1000 mp3s which need better arranging so downloaded the R12 Arrange Audio "Codec". However, after getting past a thousand or so files I noticed it slowing down considerably.

On inspecting Task Manager I noticed that there were a large number of instances of "Coreconverter.exe" running and all takeing up as much CPU as they could get. It seems that the original 2 processes (I have a duel core CPU) hung and so new processes were spawned. These also hang, creating more processes etc.

Now this occures every time I use this codec and it seems to do so for multiple file types and formats.

Any clue what might be going on or further information I can provide to help fix this if it is a bug or somthing I am doing wrong.

    Thanks,

    Anne.

On further investigation it would seem the issue occures when there is a / in the Album (and possibly title) ID3 tag. This would seem consistant since this is an invalid charecter in a windows file or directory name. Is this a bug in Arrange Audio? Is there a work arround?

Ok, I now have tracked down the issue, and short of manualy changing the ID3 tags I don't know a way round it.

It seems the issue occures if there are []s in the ID3 tags (any used to create the file name and path). For example an album ID3 tag "Touch Me [EP]/EP" will cause the issue.

Do you have problems converting your files to other formats? I ask because this issue has happened on conversions also and I am wondering if you might have found one cause.

No, so far I havn't had this issue with converting files. I have converted several thousand WMA files to MP3 without issue.
