Cannot convert .aa files! Please help!?!

I have tried my best to follow the simple instructions given that I can find online but no matter what I do I always get this error:

Error converting to Test Conversion, 'E:\SC\WolvesoftheCalla_DarkTowerVUnabridgedPart1_ acelp85_sleeperz115.aa' to 'E:\SC\WolvesoftheCalla_DarkTowerVUnabridgedPart1_ acelp85_sleeperz115.IGNORE'
DirectShow filter for '.aa' file types is not installed, or audio file is corrupt. [clDecoder::Open]
Please can someone give a stupid noob a break and tell me step by step how to do this?!? I am so mad at Audible because their software supports my MP3 player which does no good because my MP3 player doesn't understand .aa files, and I feel like they mistrepresented things.....

DOH! I didn't install the filter though I'd thought I had! answered my own question and I LOVE this program now!

I'm getting the same error but I thought I'd installed the filter already. I have a codec installed called DirectShow decoder version 1 which is set up for .aa files.

What have I done wrong please??

Follow the instructions in the download thread to manually add an extension: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=12294

Run dBpoweramp Configuration to make sure .aa is by the DirectShow Decoder (Start --> Programs --> dBpoweramp Music Converter --> Configuration --> dBpoweramp Configuration).

If you have done both of these things and you still get an error, please reply stating so.
